Biography

Sylvie Delacroix is a leading expert in data and machine ethics, currently serving as the Inaugural Jeff Price Chair in Digital Law at King’s College London. She is the founding Director of the Centre for Data Futures and a visiting professor at the Centre for Language AI Research at Tohoku University.

At the Centre for Data Futures, Sylvie pioneers participatory infrastructure across the entire AI lifecycle. Her vision is a future where communities, ranging from professional groups like judges, educators, and GPs to civic organisations and neighbourhoods, actively shape the AI systems that impact their lives while maintaining agency over the data these interactions generate.

Her research bridges theory and practice, exploring machine ethics and public policy initiatives that ensure AI is socially responsible and human-centred. Sylvie is currently developing agency-enhancing uncertainty communication features for large language models in morally sensitive contexts, alongside examining the social sustainability of the data ecosystem underpinning generative AI.
